Murugan, a labourer, died after falling into a drain after consuming alcohol at Madathukulam, Tirupur district. The police have launched an inquiry and filed a case.
Coimbatore: Murugan (56) hails from Chamarayapatti near Madathukulam in Tiruppur district. Wage labourer. He was said to be an alcoholic who drank a lot.
He had been drunk and sitting on a portion of a drain in front of the Chamarayapatti library on the day of the incident. He stumbled and fell into the drain.
Neighbours immediately rescued and took him to Udumalai Government Hospital, where physicians who examined him declared Murugan was already dead.
Kumaralingam police have registered a case and opened an investigation.
