It is reported that only 40 toilets have been constructed in Kondi Nagar, Kurichi area of Ward No.97 of Coimbatore Corporation and there are not enough dustbins for the disposal of garbage. This has reportedly led to the spread of diseases in the area due to the improper removal of waste around the area.

It is reported that only 40 toilets have been constructed in the area and there aren't enough dustbins for the disposal of garbage.

The spread of diseases is reportedly high in the area due to the improper removal of waste around the area.

Hence, Andrew, a resident of the area along with other residents petitioned for the facilitating of lavatories during the Public Grievances Day meeting held at the Coimbatore Corporation main office on Tuesday. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Coimbatore Mayor Kalpana Anadakumar.
Also, it has been reported that pipelines for the drains too have not been laid. But plans are repostedly afoot for setting up an urban health and wellness centre. The residents thus requested that before the commencement of works for establishing healthcare begins in the area, basic facilities ought to be provided.
The petition was presented through the representation of Makkal Needhi Maiyam members during the Public Grievances Day during which the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Commissioner assured the residents that a team will inspect the area regarding their issues and will take necessary action.
The CCMC Commissioner also mentioned that the residents had converted the OSR land into a route, which was allocated for the construction of the urban healthcare centre.
