Kodanad murder cum heist case: CB-CID interrogates Assistant Commissioner (AR) Kanagaraj in Avadi

According to the Police, Jayalalithaa's former car driver Kanagaraj, Sayan from Kerala, Walayar Manoj and 11 others were allegedly involved in the Kodanad murder cum heist case.


Coimbatore: The CB-CID police have questioned Kanagaraj, Assistant Commissioner of Police ( AR) at Avadi in connection with the Kodanadu murder cum heist case.

The CB-CID police, led by ADSP Murugavel, interrogated him for about three hours.

In 2017, a murder and heist took place in the Kodanadu bungalow and the Om Bahadur, the night watchman, was murdered by miscreants.

According to the Police, Jayalalithaa's former car driver Kanagaraj, Sayan from Kerala, Walayar Manoj and 11 others were allegedly involved in the Kodanad murder cum heist case

Kanagaraj, the mastermind of the incident, died under mysterious circumstances in a road accident near Salem. The Nilgiris district police have registered a case against 10 people, including Sayan, in connection with the murder and robbery.

However, the case was transferred to a special cell led by ADSP Krishnamurthy in 2021 on the ground that it was not properly investigated.

While the special cell had questioned around 316 people, it was suddenly transferred to the CB-CID at the end of September last year.

Subsequently, Coimbatore CB-CID ADSP Murugavel was appointed as the investigating officer. The 49-member CB-CID team led by him is investigating the case intensively.

More than 150 people, including Murali Rambha, who was the Superintendent of Police of the Nilgiris district at the time of the incident, Kodanadu Estate partner Sasikala, Estate manager Natarajan and others were questioned.

Following this, the CB-CID team questioned Kanagaraj, who is the Assistant Commissioner at, Avadi, Chennai this morning.

It is to be noted that Kanagaraj, Assistant Commissioner (Armed Reserve) who was questioned by the CB-CID, was earlier the Security officer of Jayalalithaa and Edappadi Palaniswami.
