Skeletons of 5-year-old baby elephant found in Devarayapuram forest area in Coimbatore

While the skeletons of the elephant were found during forest patrolling in Devarayapuram forest area in Coimbatore, a study conducted by forest officials along with a team of veterinary doctors found that the deceased was a 5-year-old baby male elephant and the deceased may have been around four months old.


Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a five-year-old male elephant's skull and bones were found in devarayapuram forest area in Coimbatore.

Forest department personnel were patrolling the Devarayapuram forest area near Narasipuram under Boluvampatti forest range in Coimbatore.

In one location, the skull and scattered bones of a deceased elephant were discovered.



Following this, the staff informed the forest officials. Forest department officials who visited the spot along with a team of veterinary doctors inspected the spot and found that the deceased was about a 5-year-old male elephant cub and the deceased may have been around 4 months old.

The elephant's skeleton and tusk were found scattered in the same area. The cause of the elephant's death could not be ascertained as it had been a long time since its death, a team of doctors said.
