Celebrating Temple festival in Coimbatore- Devotees offer prayers in the sacred Dandu Maariamman temple

During the dandu mariamman temple festival in Coimbatore, almost 3,000 devotees offered fire pots, milk pots and piercing with beaks to the deity. The procession began at The Koniamman Temple in Coimbatore and passed through Oppanakara Road, Avinashi Road, and culminated at Dandu Mariamman Temple.



Coimbatore: Thousands of devotees in Coimbatore offered prayers on the occasion of the famous Dandu Mariamman temple festival.

On the 18th of this month, the ancient Dandu Mariamman temple festival on Avinashi Road in Coimbatore began. Following that, specific poojas are performed on a daily basis. This was followed by the main event of the fire pots, mik pots, and beak piercing ceremony.



More than 3,000 devotees participated in the procession, carrying fire pots, beaks and milk pots. The procession, which started at The Koniamman Temple in Coimbatore, passed through Oppanakara Road, reached Avinashi Road and culminated at Dandu Mariamman Temple.



Along the way, people offered drinking water, water buttermilk, soft drinks and pulp to the devotees.



Moreover, many people poured water on the feet of those who paid obeisance and sought their blessings.

Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan led the police personnel on duty to mark the occasion. The traffic police also undertook the task of clearing the traffic through loudspeakers.
