BJP's state farmers' wing plans massive hunger strike against the mineral loot from Coimbatore district; over 10,000 to participate

Coimbatore: BJP state farmers' wing President G K Nagaraj has said that more than 10,000 caders and general public will participate in a massive hunger strike to protest against the looting of mineral wealth from Coimbatore district.

Earlier he submitted a petition to the District collector urging him to give permission to cull wild boars in Coimbatore district and create awareness among the public about wildlife incursions.

According to the petition, steps should be taken to immediately shoot and kill wild boars which are causing great damage to the farmlands in

Wild boars which are a menace to farmers in Thondamuthur, Periyanayakanpalayam and Karamadai areas should be culled. . Relief should be provided for the crop damage caused by elephants, peacocks and deer.

He also urged the authorities to create awareness among youth to preserve forest wealth and to create awareness about wildlife.

Addressing the reporters later, G.K. Nagaraj said “The Kinathukadavu area is rich in mineral wealth. About 10,000 people are planning to go on a hunger strike to protest against the looting of mineral wealth from this. area. We have urged the District collector to take action against the loot.

Further adding he said various wastes from Kerala are continuously being dumped in Coimbatore and the district collector should stop this practice.

“We are trying to get permission to cull wild boars with guns. About five lakh banana trees in Annur and Thekkampatti areas have been uprooted due to heavy rains. The district administration should extend relief to the damage” he said.

“The price of coconuts has fallen drastically. Coconut oil should be provided at ration shops to help the coconut farmers. Some dams, including Siruvani, have not been desilted for better storage” he further added.
