Palladam Women block the road over Illegal liquor sales!

Raja, who was selling liquor illegally in his house at Naduvelampalayam near Palladam, was besieged by women in the area. More than 50 women blocked the manickapuram road demanding the arrest of the absconder.


Tirupur:Women blocked a road near Palladam demanding the arrest of a person involved in the illegal sale of liquor.

Naduvelampalayam hamlet, near Palladam, has around 2,000 families. Since there is no government liquor shop in the village, locals travel eight kilometres to Palladam and buy liquor bottles.

For the past three months, there have been allegations that a person named Raja is staying in a rental house here and illegally selling liquor bottles.



On Wednesday, while Raja was selling liquor bottles in his home, the women of the area caught him red-handed and besieged his house.

Raja was reportedly fleeing when Mangalam police arrived.



Meanwhile, more than 50 women block the road and demand the arrest of Raja.



Furthermore, the women said that due to the illegal sale of alcohol , men who go to work buy bottles of alcohol at high prices causing problems in the family.



Since liquor is sold 24 hours a day, the entire salary money is spent on buying liquor.

He used to sell high-priced spirits bottles to schoolchildren and then drink them. In order to prevent such incidents, they also demanded Raja's arrest for illegal liquor sales.

The Mangalam police held talks with the women involved in the road blockade and promised to arrest Raja immediately and the women called off the road blockade and dispersed.
