A protest was held in front of the Dharapuram tahsildar's office against the murder of a village administrative officer. The protest demanded that a bill to ensure the safety of government employees should be passed in the Assembly.

The Tamil Nadu Revenue Village Employees' Union held a protest in the premises of Dharapuram taluk office in Tirupur district in the presence of taluk secretary Kanagaraj under the leadership of revenue village employees union circle president Kuppuraj.
While they had already lodged a complaint with the district collector and the police about the sand smuggling, two members of the sand smuggling gang had cut off their heads and hands with sickles.

Considering it as a challenge to public peace, it was urged that all the union members of Dharapuram, public sector unions, departmental associations and the general public should extend their full support and issue an order amending the law to ensure the safety and security of government employees.
The protesters raised slogans demanding that the family of the deceased be documented to get justice. More than 50 people participated in the protest.
