The Special Task Force police conducted a vigilance operation after receiving information that a high-end drug known as methamphetamine was being marketed targeting youngsters in Coimbatore. Akhil, a college student from Kerala, was arrested and six grams of narcotic tablets were seized from him.
Coimbatore: A college student in Coimbatore was arrested by the Special Task Force police for allegedly being involved in the sale of methamphetamine, a high-end drug targeting youths.
The Thudiyalur Special Cell police have got information that high-end drugs are being sold near a private apartment in the Vellakinar area of Coimbatore district, near Thudiyalur.
It is also reported that a third year student of a private college in Kalapatti is planning to target and sell the youth through his WhatsApp.
The police were keeping a close watch on the college student based on this sensitive information. When the student came to the apartment, the Special Cell police rounded him up and arrested him.
Akhil (26), son of Jayapal, a native of Ravanur near Kozhikode in Kerala, was arrested. He was a third-year civil engineering student at a college in Kalapatti.
In this case, it was revealed that Akhil had bought methamphetamine, a drug tablet from Bangalore, to Coimbatore through one Rohit, a resident of Bangalore, and was targeting college students and selling it. Following this, the police arrested him and seized 6 grams of methamphetamine, a high-grade drug, from his possession.
So far, three cases have been registered against five persons in Coimbatore district for allegedly selling high-end drugs. Methamphetamine drug weighing a total of 23 grams has been seized.
