Rare white cobra caught in Coimbatore - Forest activists released in Mangarai forest areas

In a shocking incident, a rare white cobra was washed away in rainwater in Coimbatore city. Forest activists rushed to the spot, caught the snake safely and released it into the Mangarai forest areas.



Coimbatore: Coimbatore city and suburbs have been receiving heavy rains in the evenings for the past 10 days. In this situation, a white-coloured cobra, which is rarely seen in Sakthi Nagar area of Kurichi in Coimbatore, was washed away from somewhere in the rain.

Seeing this, the people of the area informed the Wildlife and Nature Conservation Trust. The forest activists reached the spot, rescued the snake safely and released it into the Mangarai forest areas.



While many people called the snake as white snake, forest activists said it appeared due to a genetic issue and a lack of skin pigmentation.

They stated, White cobras with such skin pigment deficiency are very rare.
