'The Kerala Story movie has nothing to do with Muslim culture:' TMMK Coimbatore District President

'The Kerala Story' is alleged to be a film that portrays the culture and lives of Muslims in a wrong way and creates religious conflict. Hence, Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) District President of Coimbatore district, Sarbudeen, said that the protest being held on Friday by the TMMK is to prevent release of the film.

Coimbatore: TMMK's Coimbatore District President, Sarbudeen, has slammed the movie 'The Kerala Story' alleging that 'The Kerala Story' has nothing to do with Muslim culture.

Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam Coimbatore District President, Sarbudeen, spoke at a press conference in Coimbatore on Friday in connection with the release of movie 'The Kerala Story.' Sarbudeen alleged, "The Kerala Story is a film that portrays the culture and lives of Muslims in a wrong way and creates religious conflict.

Hence, the TMMK are holding a protest today against the release of the film. We feel sad when we see the trailer of 'The Kerala Story.' What is shown in the trailer is in stark contrast to how we live and get along with our Hindu and Christian brothers. Films like 'Burqa' and 'Kerala Stories,' which portray Muslims as enemies, are coming up a lot, even during the month of Ramzan. These films have nothing to do with Muslim culture. It is painful that the government is supporting such films in the name of freedom of expression."

Sarbudeen added, "The recent BBC documentary on Modi was immediately banned. Freedom of expression should be common for all. Only films depicting Muslims in a bad light are allowed. If we fight it fairly, we are called traitors. But we are now fighting for a ban on this film. The film was produced by a Gujarati.

Therefore, his background should also be investigated. All those who make such films have RSS backgrounds. The Tamil Nadu government should stop the conspiracy to turn Tamil Nadu into a land of riots through such films. The film is being released through the Court despite Intelligence agencies warning not to release the film. The police have also provided security to the theatres where the film is being released.

The police should behave fairly. Muslims have wrongly been portrayed as converting and deporting women. It appears to be a conspiracy to incite communal riots ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections."
