During the car festival of Palamalai Sri Ranganathar temple, Perumal appeared in a car and circumambulated the mada streets of the temple. Thousands of devotees participated in the event and pulled the tiruther string. The devotees raised slogans of 'Govinda' and 'Govinda'.
Coimbatore: The famous Balamalai Sri Ranganathar Temple is located in the Western Ghats near Periyanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore.
The Chithirai car festival in the temple began on April 29 with the hoisting of the flag. On this occasion, Lord Perumal appeared in Annavahanam on 30th, Hanumantha Vahanam on May 1st and Garuda Vahanam on 2nd May and graced the devotees.
On the 3rd, sengodai amman's welcoming ceremony was held and on the 4th, thirukalyanam utsavam was held for Perumal with sengodai and poongodai thayars. The main event, the Thiruther vaibhavam, began at 3 pm yesterday.
The first of these was the elephant vahana utsava and the chinnather utsavam. Thereafter, at around 6 p.m., Perumal came in a car and circumambulated the streets of the temple.
Thousands of devotees participated in the event and pulled the tiruther string.
At that time, the devotees raised 'Govinda' and 'Govinda' slogans to the extent of splitting the sky.
Thereafter, Aranganathar graced the devotees with a special darshan. Following this, annadhanam was given to all. In addition, natyanjali with the participation of school and college students and bhajans by namasankeerthana troupe from different places were also held.
The Coimbatore district administration had arranged special buses from Coimbatore and Mettupalayam for the temple festival. Officials from all departments including the police, forest department, fire department and ambulance facility were on duty.
There were also free neermor pandals set up here and there for those who were walking into the temple.
