Coimbatore district police create awareness among women at bus stops regarding police numbers for emergencies

The awareness campaigns were held at bus stops, where women gathered in large numbers. They were advised to contact the police by dialling 181 in the event of any harassment.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore district police launched an awareness campaign at bus stops to create awareness among women about police helpline numbers for emergencies.

As per the instructions of the Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan, the Coimbatore police have been visiting bus stands where women gather in large numbers and are conducting awareness campaigns on police helpline numbers.

The police conducted an awareness campaign among the women standing in the Poo Market bus stop area on Wednesday morning. They were briefed that in the event of any harassment they face, the police can be contacted at the helpline number 181. THey were also told that for children harassment issues, they could reach out at 1098, while for general calls, they could dial 100 and for issues relating to the elderly, 14567 can be dialled. The police also highlighted the use of the police app called SOS.
