Can Rs 2,000 note be given in TASMAC shops? - Minister Senthil Balaji

Tamil Nadu Minister Senthil Balaji stated that no circular has been circulated on behalf of TASMAC management instructing staff not to get Rs 2,000 notes from TASMAC stores from today. Minister Senthil Balaji has stated that Rs 2,000 notes should not be received from TASMAC shops.


The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 notes in circulation in India. The public can exchange their Rs 2,000 notes by September 30.

The RBI also said that banks should no longer issue Rs 2,000 notes to customers and the practice will come into effect with immediate effect.

From the 23rd of this month, the general public will be able to deposit Rs 2,000 notes into their bank accounts or convert them into other currency notes. Based on the RBI regulation, a maximum of Rs 20,000 can be credited to banks at a time.

Tasmac employees in Tamil Nadu will not be allowed to buy Rs 2,000 notes from today. There were also reports in the media that the TASMAC management has warned that the TASMAC seller and supervisor will be responsible if they buy Rs 2,000 notes in violation of the order.

Minister Senthil Balaji said that no circular has been issued on behalf of tasmac management to the employees not to buy Rs 2,000 notes from tasmac shops in Tamil Nadu from today.
