Coimbatore: A dog roaming around with a plastic tin near Peelamedu was rescued after 10 days.

For the past 10 days, a dog was stuck around his neck with a plastic tin on his head at Kumudham Nagar in Cheran Nagar area near Peelamedu in Coimbatore.

As a result, the dog was suffering from lack of food and water. Residents of the area have been continuously trying for the last three days to rescue the dog.

But all the attempts ended in failure. This morning, a voluntary animal welfare organisation called The Planetic Foundation was informed and they arrived there.

The dog was resting down near a water tank in the Kumudham Nagar area at the time.

With the help of residents, the team caught hold of the dog and took out a plastic tin stuck to its head and rescued the dog.

The people of the area happily thanked the NGO for providing this service free of cost.

The volunteers said it was the result of the public using plastic items and throwing them away carelessly. They also requested the residents to dispose of plastic items properly.
