Two Bus Passengers Arrested for Assaulting a Government Bus Driver in an Inebriated State near Coimbatore

Police arrested the government bus driver Vijayakumar (48) and Raghavan (20) of Poochiyur and Karthik (20) of Sundapalayam for assaulting the conductor in Vedapatti in Coimbatore district.


Coimbatore: Two people have been arrested for attacking a government bus driver and conductor in Vedapatti.

Vijayakumar (48) is from Vedapatti in the Coimbatore district. He works as a driver for the State Transport Corporation in Ukkadam.

He was driving a government bus from town hall to Kuppepalayam on the day of the incident.

When the bus was on its way to the ramp near Kalikkanaickenpalayam, three inebriated guys appeared in the middle of the road and began shouting.

When Vijayakumar noticed this, he honked his horn.

But they did not leave the road and quarrelled. They then attacked the driver and conductor and fled from the spot.

The injured driver and conductor went to Thondamuthur government hospital and received first aid treatment.

They later lodged a complaint with the Thondamuthur police.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested Raghavan (20) of Poojur and Karthik (20) of Sundapalayam for assaulting the government bus driver and conductor.

The police later produced the two arrested persons in court and sent them to jail.
