TNAU students interaction with Minister for Agriculture in Coimbatore

The project is aimed at helping students to gain the skills and knowledge they need to become successful leaders in the agribusiness industry and to transition from job seekers to job providers. This project aims to equip students with the necessary skills and resources to ensure their success in the future.

Coimbatore: TNAU students interact with the Honourable Minister for Agriculture.

TNAU has been awarded the Institutional Development Plan on "Enhancing the Learning Outcome, Employability, and Entrepreneurial Skills of Farm Graduates through Excellence in Education" with a budget of Rs.24.86 crores from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi under the National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) for Institutional Development Plan (IDP). Tamil Nadu's government also sponsored Rs.5.00 crores to this TNAU-IDP.

The project's major goal is to improve the learning ability of students so that they may become leaders in agribusiness management and job providers rather than job seekers in the future. 

The project enables the University to: 

a) develop state-of-the-art modern classrooms and language laboratories to improve communication skills and soft skills; 

b) send students and faculty to various internationally renowned institutes for training; and 

c) strengthen the Alumni network and linkages with agribusiness firms for the benefit of farm graduates.

Thiru. M.R.K. Pannerselvam, Honourable Minister for Agriculture - Farmers Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, visited TNAU on 24.5.2023, to see the facilities developed under the Institutional Development Plan and interact with students. 



The Honourable Minister was accompanied by Dr.V.Geethalakshmi, Vice Chancellor of TNAU, discussing the initiatives under the IDP.



The Honourable Minister paid a visit to the Augmented and Virtual Reality Laboratory, where faculty members explained the 15 modules of class content created with augmented and virtual reality techniques.



pupils exhibited a virtual reality module designed to instruct pupils in elephant darting techniques.

Faculty members at TNAU, Coimbatore, explained the facilities created for students to learn French and German in the Language Laboratory.

The students also discussed their efforts to improve their communication abilities in English by using the language lab.

The Honourable Minister visited the Digital Extension Innovation Lab and interacted with the students. 

The students explained the video editing and digital poster making skills gained by them and showcased a few interesting videos.

About 37 undergraduate students from six fields are spending two months training in international institutes in Dubai, Australia, South Korea, Taiwan, and Edinburgh. All of these students participated in an online meeting with the Honourable Minister, where they outlined their programmes and the potential benefits to themselves and society.
