Income Tax department conducts raids at minister Senthil Balaji's supporter's house in Coimbatore

The Income Tax department has been conducting raids at the premises belonging to Minister Senthil Balaji since this morning. As part of this, income tax officials are conducting searches at the residence of Senthil Karthikeyan, a supporter of Senthil Balaji, in Goldwins area of Coimbatore.

Coimbatore: The Income Tax department is conducting searches at the residence of Senthil Karthikeyan, a supporter of Minister Senthil Balaji, in Coimbatore.

Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister Senthil Balaji,  was transport minister in the previous AIADMK government, was accused of cheating people by promising them jobs in the department. 

The Supreme Court had recently ordered the setting up of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to continue the investigation in the case.

Meanwhile, 24 people died in Villupuram and Chengalpattu districts due to consumption of spurious liquor. 

The BJP has been continuously demanding the resignation of  Senthil Balaji Minister for electricity over the issue. 

The BJP leaders met Governor R N Ravi and submitted a memorandum seeking a solution in this regard.

In recent months, opposition parties, particularly the BJP, have levelled several claims against Minister Senthil Balaji. 

Meanwhile, the Income Tax Department is conducting searches at Minister Senthil Balaji's residence.

Searches are being conducted at more than 50 locations in Chennai, Coimbatore and Karur districts. Minister Senthil Balaji's brother Ashok Kumar's house is located in Ramakrishnapuram area of Karur. 

The raid is going on here. Due to this, DMK cadres are gathering in the area.

Meanwhile, the Income Tax department is conducting searches at the residence of Senthil Karthikeyan in Goldwins area near Coimbatore. 

A real estate businessman, he has been a supporter of Minister Senthil Balaji. He was an office-bearer of the youth and young women's camp in the AIADMK and recently quit the party and joined the DMK.

His wife Kripalini Karthikeyan, who was considered one of the AIADMK's mayoral candidates in the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation elections during the recent urban local body elections, lost the elections, and Senthil Karthikeyan joined the DMK due to an industrial crisis.

Officials said the details of the documents seized will be known only after the results of the raid. It is to be noted that the Income Tax department did not conduct searches at the house belonging to Minister Senthil Balaji near coimbatore airport.
