3-day Summer fest begins in Valparai today

This year's summer festival in Valparai will be held for three days from today till 28th of this month. Pollachi Sub-Collector Priyanka and City Council President Alagusundaravalli participated in the inaugural function held today and inaugurated the event and visited the Botanical Garden.



Coimbatore: The summer festival in Valparai in Coimbatore district began on a grand note today.

The summer festival will be held in Valparai in Coimbatore district for three days from today till The 28th of this month. Pollachi Sub Collector Priyanka and City Council President Alagusundaravalli participated in the inaugural function of the summer festival held today and hoisted the flag and inaugurated the summer festival.



A stage has been set up in the premises of Valparai Government Boys Higher Secondary School where the summer festival will be held. A flower show is held at the entrance of the summer festival. The flower show is being held with over 6,500 flowers including jerbar, rose, den ro pyum, blue daisy, multi-coloured carnation brought from Ooty.

It features a selfie spot, butterfly and mickey mouse decorated with flowers. In addition, 250 vegetables have also been used to create images of varaiyadu, summer festival symbol iruvachi bird and lion-tailed monkey.



The boat ride was flagged off by sub-collector Priyanka and municipality president Alagusundaravalli and city council vice-president Senthil Kumar.



Later they visited the Botanical Garden.

The forest department has also set up a theatre with natural objects and set up wild animals like tigers, leopards, etc. The three-day summer festival will also feature bharatanatyam, yoga dance, karagattam, kavadi attam, padugar race dance, murugan valli kummi song, tribal dance, instrumentality, police dogs sahasam, dog exhibition, tea powder making competition and pattimandram.

The Botanical Garden is maintained and looks refreshed. Minister Senthil Balaji will be present on the concluding day of the summer festival and will distribute welfare assistance and prizes to the winners.
