'The purpose of the Coimbatore car bomb blast is to wage war against the government' - NIA

In October of last year, a car bomb blast in Coimbatore. According to the chargesheet submitted by the NIA, it was planned with the intention of waging war against the government.



Coimbatore: According to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the purpose of the car bomb blast in Coimbatore was to wage war against the government.

On October 23, a car bomb exploded in front of the Eswaran Temple in Kottaimedu, Coimbatore. The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Jamesha Mubeen, an ISIS supporter.



Investigations revealed that Jamesha Mubeen was the brain behind the conspiracy to plant bombs at various places in Coimbatore. Eleven people were arrested in connection with the incident. A chargesheet has already been filed against six of them in the Poonamallee special court.



NIA filed a chargesheet in the special court yesterday against the remaining five — Umar Farooq, Feroz Khan, Mohammad Taufeeq, Sheikh Idayatullah and Sanofar Ali.

The NIA special squad investigating the case came to know that Jamesha Mubeen, along with Mohammad Azharuddin, Umar Farooq and Sheikh Idayatullah Sanofar Ali, had planned a series of suicide attacks in Coimbatore.

This was revealed through a confession video taken a few days before the attack. They had planned to carry out the attack with the intention of revenge. The NIA officials in the chargesheet mentioned about the 11 people arrested in the incident.

Azharuddin and Afsar have helped Jamesha Mubeen procure and mix explosives. Mohammad Talka assisted him by giving him a car. Feroz, Riyaz and Nawaz helped load the gas cylinder into the car.

The conspiracy was hatched in Sathyamangalam forest area of Erode district. Umar Farooq from Coonoor in the Nilgiris has been chosen as the leader in this conspiracy. He is the leader and has ordered others to do the work they have to do.

Jamesha Mubeen had given Mohammad Taufeeq maps for bomb preparation, notebooks with handwritten details and terrorist thought-provoking books.

It was seized by NIA officials. Umar Farooq and Jamesha Mubeen have collected funds to execute the conspiracy. Sanofar Ali has also provided financial assistance. Feroz Khan made arrangements for the transportation of goods.

According to the supplementary chargesheet, NIA officials have said that the purpose of the conspiracy was to wage war against the government by attacking the public administration, police and judiciary of the state.
