Coimbatore woman arrested for robbing businesswoman of 100 sovereigns of jewellery and Rs 2.5 crore

On March 21, Varshini has allegedly mixed anaesthesia in a country chicken curry and made Rajeshwari eat it and make her unconscious. With the help of her friends Arun Kumar and driver Naveen Kumar she stole around 100 sovereigns of gold and diamond jewellery and Rs 2.5 crore in cash from Rajeshwari's house.



Coimbatore: Rajeshwari (63), a businesswoman, lives in Greenfield Colony near Puliyakulam Kidney Centre in Coimbatore. Varshini is said to be known to her professionally.  

On March 21, Varshini has allegedly mixed anaesthesia in a country chicken curry and made Rajeshwari eat it and make her unconscious. With the help of her friends Arun Kumar and driver Naveen Kumar she stole around 100 sovereigns of gold and diamond jewellery and Rs 2.5 crore in cash from Rajeshwari's house. 

A case was registered at Ramanathapuram police station on the basis of a complaint lodged by Rajeshwari in connection with the incident. 

Based on the orders of Commissioner Balakrishnan, a special team led by Ramanathapuram police inspector Prabha Devi arrested Karthik and Surender in connection with the crime on March 24.

The main accused in the case Varshini Makkadayar and Naveen Kumar were arrested by the Special Cell police today.



Varshini was arrested and handed over around 70 sovereigns of gold diamond bangles and Rs 10,000 in cash. 35 lakhs, a car, one i-phone one, Cash of Rs 5 lakh and a car were also seized from Naveen Kumar. 

A total of 100 sovereigns of gold and diamond jewellery and Rs 48 lakh in cash and an I-phone have been seized in the case. Out of this, Rs 31.20 lakh is in the income tax office in Salem. Varshini is also being investigated in pending cases in Pollachi East, Dharapuram police station, Singanallur and Coimbatore city crime branch.
