In this situation, yesterday also, the impact of the heat wave was recorded in many districts beyond 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Meanwhile, due to convection, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely to occur at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for four days from yesterday to Tuesday.
The very severe cyclonic storm Pipparjar, which hit the central-eastern Arabian Sea on August 8, moved north-northeastwards yesterday and lay about 800 km west of Goa. It was situated at a distance of about 820 km west-southwest of Mumbai and 830 km south-southwest of Porbandar (Gujarat).
It is very likely to strengthen further and move north-northeastwards during next 36 hours and north-northwestwards during next 48 hours during next 38 hours, the Chennai Meteorological Department said.
