1.5 Tons of Single-Use Plastics Seized by Coimbatore Corporation Officials

Despite the ban that has been imposed on the manufacture, sale, and usage of plastic and polystyrene commodities, its circulation is still observed. To further reduce the spread of these items, the city corporation commissioner has ordered officials to go on regular raids in various places to seize all banned plastic entities.



Coimbatore: Officials from the Coimbatore Corporation seized 1.5 tonnes of single-use plastics banned by the Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday.



Based on private information, this seizure was carried out at Raja Street. 



It should be noted that the seized lorry is registered with the 'Madhesh lorry service' on Raja Street.



Despite a restriction on the manufacture, sale, and use of plastic and polystyrene products, their circulation is constantly witnessed. On the directives of the city corporation commissioner, officials conduct regular searches in various locations, seizing all prohibited plastic entities.



In this regard, a Corporation Official stated, "We have seized a lorry containing more than 1.5 tonnes of banned plastics as well as other food items, transported for sale from Salem to Coimbatore." The seized materials will be handed over to the head office, and the city commissioner's orders will be followed. 



Penalties will very surely be imposed, and additional procedures to prevent such supply will be implemented."
