The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) submitted a memorandum to the Coimbatore Collector and SP's office asking for a ban on the slaughtering of cows in public places on the occasion of Bakrid on April 29.
Coimbatore: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has petitioned the collector's and SP's offices to prohibit the slaughter of cows in public places during Bakrid in Coimbatore.
According to the petition, on the day of Bakrid on June 29, cows for slaughter were tied up in public locations in Selvapuram, Ukkadam, Athupalam, and other areas in Coimbatore. Similarly, cows have been slaughtered for meat in public places other than government-sanctioned slaughterhouses in recent years.
We have learned that cattle are regularly slaughtered without following the rules, such as a veterinary doctor's certificate, government-approved slaughterhouses, and so on, subject to government rules.
As a result, the government and police should take swift action in preparation to ensure that such incidents do not occur this year. This is stated in the report.
