Even though much damage was caused by the fire to the godown, there were no casualties reported since it has occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Coimbatore: A fire broke out at a bio-fertilizer godown at Ondipudur garbage dump which is in Singanallur 57th ward of Coimbatore Corporation, in the wee hours of Saturday.

As soon as the fire broke out from the fertilizer godown, onlookers informed the fire department.

The fire brigade rushed to the spot on receiving the information and fought the rapidly-spreading fire for about an hour and brought it under control.

It is reported that the fire caused much damage to the fertilizer godown. Singanallur police are investigating the matter.
Coimbatore Corporation East Zone Assistant Commissioner, Senthilkumaran and Coimbatore Corporation Assistant Executive Engineer Ramasamy and Health Officer Jeevan Murugadoss were also present during the inspection.

Former Singanallur MLA and Coimbatore City District DMK Secretary N Karthik visited the spot and inspected the damage. Councillor Shanthamani was also present.
