Coimbatore Metro Rail Project: Report to be submitted to Govt. on July 15

Chennai Metro Rail Managing Director Siddique has stated that the project report preparation work has reached the final stage and will be submitted to the Tamil Nadu Government on July 15.



Coimbatore: Chennai Metro Rail Managing Director Siddique has stated that the project report for the proposed metro rail project in Coimbatore will be submitted to the Tamil Nadu Government on July 15.



In this context, a meeting was held at the District Collectorate regarding the implementation of metro rail in the project and the preparation.



The meeting, chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Ramesh Chand Meena and Chennai Metro Rail Corporation Managing Director Siddique, discussed the project report for the Coimbatore Metro rail project.



District Collector Kranti Kumar Pati, Municipal Commissioner M Prathap, Project No. 1 Director and other officials were present.



After the meeting, Chennai Metro Rail Managing Director Siddique held a press conference in which he explained that, "A detailed project report for metro rail projects in Coimbatore city has been prepared.

While funds have been allocated for the implementation of the Coimbatore Metro rail project, the implementation of the project has been discussed. The preparation of the Coimbatore Metro Rail project report has reached the final stage. The project report will be submitted to the Government of Tamil Nadu on July 15. In the first phase, the project will be implemented on two roads - Avinashi Road and Sathy Road in Coimbatore. A total of 32 stations are to be set up for a total length of 39 km. There will be 17 railway stations on Avinashi Road and 14 stations on Sathy Road. A three-coach metro rail has been planned to run on this route.

After submitting the project report to the Government of Tamil Nadu, the project will be implemented with the approval of the Union Government and funding from multinational companies. While the bridge is being constructed on the Coimbatore-Avinashi Road, it is planned to carry out work on the metro rail line on the left side of the bridge. In the first phase, both the routes will be functioning as high-level bridges.



It will be constructed on Avinashi Road from Neelambur to Ukkadam and from Gandhipuram to Valayampalayam on Sathyamangalam Road.

The work is planned to be completed in 3.5 years from the start of metro works. There will be three coaches in the metro train and each coach can carry 250 people. The metro rail project will be in use for up to 150 years. It is planned based on the application for the next 30 years. The entire project is planned as a high-level bridge. No tunnels have been planned. There will be land acquisition in a few places. About 75 acres of Government and private land is to be acquired for the project.



Following the press conference, Siddique and Ramesh Chand Meena inspected the site of the metro rail project in the city's Town Hall area.
