A major fire broke out in Tirupur's Baniyan garments waste godown and garment manufacturing unit, causing extensive damage to lakhs of rupees worth of baniyan garments and machines. Firefighters have intensified their efforts to douse the fire, and Nallur police are now investigating the cause of the incident.
Tirupur: A baniyan garment manufacturing unit and a baniyan waste godown functioning on rent on a one-acre land owned by Kannan and Narayanan in Puthupalayam on Kangeyam Road in Tirupur.
The workers are not at work at this garment manufacturing company as Sunday is a holiday and the workers in the vicinity have been staying in the apartment.
In this case, a fire broke out on the baniyan garments that were stored in the waste godown at the back of the baniyan company.
The fire rapidly spread and damaged the knitwear materials and knitting machines that were ready for shipment at the nearby Baniyan company and everything was destroyed in the fire.
As a result, the entire area was shrouded in black smoke, and it was impossible to go inside to douse the fire.
After receiving immediate notification of the event, the Tirupur South fire department reached the spot.
Three private water tankers are dousing the fire and the baniyan garment machines worth lakhs of rupees were completely damaged in the fire.
The Nallur police have registered a case and are investigating whether it was due to an electrical leakage or some other reason.
For more than two hours, firefighters, workers, and the general public have been working to put out the fire.
Due to this, the traffic on the Kangayam main road in Tirupur has been affected.
