Balakrishnan (52) is a resident of Idaiyarpalayam Church Street in Kuniyamuthur, Coimbatore. He runs a grocery shop in the same area. Yesterday, three people came to his shop in a car. They introduced us to Balakrishnan as anti-narcotics officers.

Later, it was reported that tobacco products were being sold in the shop. So they went inside the shop and checked it saying that they had to be checked. Then they took out some hans packets from the shop. He also took Rs 2 lakh from the kalla and asked Balakrishnan who is supplying you with tobacco products? They took Balakrishnan and his son to the car in which they had come.

When they went near Kamarajar Street in Sundarapuram, a group of three men stopped the car and handed over Rs 30,000 of the Rs 2 lakh they had taken from the shop to Balakrishnan and threatened him not to tell anyone.

It was then that Balakrishnan came to know that they were fraudsters. He lodged a complaint in this regard at kuniyamuthur police station. Based on this, the police have registered a case and are investigating the gang of three men who allegedly extorted money by posing as officers of the Narcotics Control Bureau.
