Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Electricity employees' Central Organisation has petitioned the Chief Minister to bring up the issue of making contractual employees permanent.
The Tamil Nadu Electricity Employees' Central Organisation (TNEB) submitted a memorandum to the Coimbatore District Collector's office in an effort to bring the Chief Minister's issue to the problem of regularising contract workers who have been working in the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board for more than ten years.
The petition, which was spearheaded by the organization's president Madhusudhanan, claimed that the contract workers performed their duty by restoring power outages during several natural calamities in Tamil Nadu.
The DMK government demanded that the contract employees who have been employed by the government for more than ten years be given permanent positions, as promised in the election manifesto.
