Five people were killed when a private college compound wall collapsed in Coimbatore

Tragedy struck Coimbatore when a compound wall of a private college collapsed, leading to the death of five people. The Coimbatore District Collector has promised that appropriate action will be taken against anyone, including the college administration, responsible for the incident.


Coimbatore: In Coimbatore, five persons died when a compound wall of a private college had fallen. According to the Coimbatore District Collector, appropriate action would be taken against anyone involved in the incident, including the college administration.



Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, Corporation Commissioner Prathap, Corporation Mayor Kalpana, and Deputy Mayor Vetrichelvan inspected the building collapse of a compound wall of a private college at Sugunapuram near Kuniyamuthur in Coimbatore.

Speaking to the reporters after the inspection, the Collector stated that five people were killed in the incident and that a case had been filed against the contractor at the Kuniyamuthur police station. The stream has reportedly been encroached upon at the place where the compound wall is being built, and the entire compound wall is being built in a hazardous manner. He pointed out that if there is any encroachment, appropriate action will be taken and the quality of the compound walls will be inspected.

He stated that appropriate action will be taken against anyone who acted negligently in the incident.district collector investigated the incident five hours after the occurrence. Responding to a reporter's question about the reason for the delay, the Collector stated that the he responded that the higher officials should not be expected to visit all of the locations where the incident occurred, and that all of the officers at the lower level had arrived and that he had been supervising over the phone.

Similarly, in response to a query about providing relief to the deceased, the Collector stated that a departmental inquiry will be carried out, their relatives will be contacted, and relief will be provided.
