Farmers happy with increase in inflow of water into Amaravathi dam

Farmers in the Udumalpet district of Tirupur are rejoicing due to the recent increase in the inflow of water into Amaravathi dam, which has gone up from 76 cusecs to 946 cusecs, due to heavy rains in the catchment areas of Pambar, Thuvanam and Kandalur. This has filled the reservoir of the dam and brings much needed relief to the farmers in the area.


Tirupur: Because of the continuous rains in the catchment areas of the Amaravathi dam near Udumalpet in Tirupur district, such as Pambar, Thuvanam, and Kandalur, the inflow into the dam has increased from 76 cusecs yesterday to 946 cusecs today.

Meanwhile, the main catchment areas of the Amaravathi dam are in Idukki district, where it is currently raining continuously. Amaravathi dam old and new Ayakkattu irrigated farmers are happy. At present, the Amaravathi dam is 49.58 feet out of the total 90 feet.
