On April 8, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Vande Bharat Express 20644 between Coimbatore and Chennai. The train runs 6 days a week except Wednesdays.
The Vande Bharat train will leave Coimbatore at 6 am and reach Chennai at 11.50 pm and from Chennai at 2.25 pm and reach Coimbatore at 8.15 pm.
Since its launch, the train has achieved a new record for regular bookings. The waiting list of passengers is on the rise. The train covers a total distance of 500 km between Chennai and Coimbatore in 5 hours and 50 minutes.
The standard fare is Rs 1,365 (including meal), and the executive fee is Rs 2,485 (including food).
The Coimbatore-Chennai Vande Bharath train runs from Coimbatore to Jolarpettai at a speed of 110 kmph and from Jolarpettai to Chennai at a speed of 130 kmph
