Udumalpet: More than 100 tribal families in the Amaravathi forest department's Chippiparai area near Udumalpet in Tirupur district have been struggling for the past 50 years without a house and basic amenities.

The tribals people lamented, “We have been living at the foothills of the hills in this area for nearly 50 years.

Without a house to live in, we have built our own houses with tarpaulins and are drying up in the rain and the sun.

Officers come and take photos. But as of now, there is no housing and electricity, drinking water facility. We are going to the nearby Amaravathi dam and filling up the drinking water facility.

The movement of wildlife is more during the night. Elephants, in particular, do not sleep for a few days throughout the night as they come every night.

Therefore, the concerned forest department and the revenue department jointly conducted a field inspection of the area and we have been struggling for 50 years without basic amenities.”

They demanded that a permanent concrete house and electricity be provided in the same area to prevent wildlife from entering the habitations. Let's wait and see if the demands of the tribals will be fulfilled.
