A North Indian labourer dies after falling into a well at Malumichampatti

Pathan Singh, a 38 year old resident of Purushani in Odisha. Last year, he came to Coimbatore for work and was employed as a porter in a private firm in Malumichampatti. Earlier on this day, Pathan Singh was drinking with his friends near the premises of a private college in Malumichampatti when he suddenly slipped and fell into a well.


Coimbatore: A labour from northern India died after falling into a well while in an inebriated state near Malumichampatti in Coimbatore.

Pathan Singh (38) is from Purushani, Odisha. They married 10 years ago and had two children. Pathan Singh had moved to Coimbatore for work last year and was working as a porter in a private enterprise in the Malumichampatti region.

Earlier in the day, Pathan Singh along with his friends sat near the premises of a private college in Malumichampatti and consumed liquor. He was standing near a well when he was drunk at the time when he suddenly slipped and fell inside.

His friends immediately informed the Chettipalayam police and the fire department with the help of locals. The fire department rushed to the spot and recovered Pathan Singh's body, who had drowned.



The police sent his body to ESI Hospital for post-mortem. The Chettipalayam police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
