Ranked by Stanford University to be within the top 1 percent of scientists worldwide, internationally acclaimed Orthopedics and Spine Surgeon, Dr. S. Rajasekaran was honoured with this prestigious award for his outstanding contributions to research in spinal diseases at an event held in Chennai, today.
Coimbatore: Dr S Rajasekaran, Chairman-Department of Orthopaedics, Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore was honoured today with the Sir JC Bose Lifetime Achievement Award in a function at Dr Ambedkar Law University Campus, Taramani, Chennai.
He received the award along with Prof Dr V Kamakoti, Director - IIT Madras. Dr Rajasekaran received this award from the Indian Science Monitor which has instituted this award in memory of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose (1858-1937) who is the Father of Radio Waves, Pioneer in Micro Wave Optics and who also invented the Crescograph which proved for the first time that plants also can feel pain and neural network like animals.
Dr Rajasekaran received the award for his contributions to research into spinal diseases, for being ranked by the Stanford University, USA to be within the top 1% of scientists in the world and for having the highest number of research papers in orthopaedic surgery published in high ranking peer reviewed journals in India.
The Spine research team of Ganga Hospital headed by Prof.Dr.S.Rajasekaran has set numerous records in research. Their research papers are recognized by acclaimed institutions - The North American Spine Society (NASS) in 2022 for the fourth consecutive time, International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine (ISSLS) Awards in the year --2004, 2010, 2013 and 2017, Euro-spine Worldwide Open Research Award in 2008, Asia Pacific Spine Society Awards and Brit-spine Award.
