Coimbatore: Thadagam police arrested a youth named Manoj, who was smuggling ganja during a vehicle check near Kanuvai in Coimbatore, and sent him to jail. Police seized 5 kg of ganja and a two-wheeler from his possession.

Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Badri Narayanan has taken strict action against drugs and arrested the culprits and put them in jail.

Acting on a tip-off that ganja was being sold in areas under thadagam police station limits in Coimbatore, sub-inspector Arumuga Nainar of Thadagam police station and kalavars were conducting vehicle checking at Kanuvai bus stop area.

At that time, the youth who was coming on a two-wheeler in a suspicious manner was rounded up and checked. It was found that 5 kg of ganja was being smuggled in his two-wheeler.

He was brought to the police station for questioning and it was revealed that he was Manoj, a native of Chetty Street in Coimbatore, who had been smuggling and selling ganja from Kerala.

Following this, the Thadagam police registered a case against him and produced him before the court and lodged him in coimbatore central jail. The police also seized 5 kg of ganja and a two-wheeler used in the smuggling.
