Stringent punishment should be given to those involved in Manipur issue - MLA Vanathi Srinivasan

Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan has said that the incident in Manipur where two women were stripped naked and raped is against human decency and those involved should be given stringent punishment.

Coimbatore: Coimbatore South MLA and BJP women's wing national president Vanathi Srinivasan has said that the Manipur issue is an act against human decency and those involved in it should be punished severely.

A function was held at the premises of a private college in New India area of Coimbatore to issue appointment orders to the youth who have secured employment opportunities in various departments of the Central Government.

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment V Narayanasamy presided over the function as the chief guest and handed over the appointment orders to the youth.

Coimbatore South MLA and BJP national president Vanathi Srinivasan was present on the occasion and congratulated the youth who got jobs.

Following this, Coimbatore South MLA and BJP National Women's Wing president Vanathi Srinivasan later addressed the media.

Then she spoke,

“The BJP government is a government that respects every language as the order was issued yesterday that CBSE students will be able to study the regional language. The Manipur issue is against human civilization, intolerable and indigestible. Those involved should be given severe punishment.

In regions like Manipur, many decisions are being taken in an atmosphere of unrest and even if there is a daily fight, the mindset of making problems with women should change in the society.

We have to go beyond politics and ensure the safety of women. The BJP-led central government will be a bulwark for women. The double standards of the political parties will come out in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.

Like former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, many more will work with us during the elections. The BJP will not ignore any party, including the DMDK.

The video of Manipur has created a lot of ripples in the society. The central government has taken steps so that human lives should not be in danger.

The Congress party, which speaks for Manipur, has sacked a minister who spoke in favour of women in the party-ruled state. If any woman in India is harmed irrespective of party affiliations, the BJP will stand by them.

Various parties in the country are going to join hands with the BJP. We will include those who want an alliance with the BJP, even if they are individuals.

She questioned why the culprit has not been found yet in the Vengaivayal case and said incidents like Vengaivayal are a black spot for parties talking about social justice.”
