Tirupur: In Kundadam, a cattle market is held every Saturday from 1 pm to 6 pm. Traders from kundadam, kangayam, Dharapuram, Uthiyur, Madathukulam, Palladam, Poolavadi, kudimangalam and other places bring cows, calves and bullock calves for sale. Similarly, traders from Erode, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Pollachi, Kerala and Ooty come and buy a large number of cows and transport them in vehicles.

Due to this, around 2,000 cows are brought to this market every week for sale. But a large number of cattle go to places like Kerala and Ooty. But now that the arrival of cows has increased, the prices have fallen sharply this week. At the same time, there has been a decline in the number of buyers of domesticated cattle and heifers. The price of milch animals, which was priced at Rs 40,000 in the last few weeks, has gone up to Rs 30,000 this week. The domesticated heifers, which were priced up to Rs 20,000, were sold for less than Rs 15,000 this week.

According to the traders, Usually, during the dry season, the prices of cows are low. If the rains start, the prices will go up soon, they said.
