A farmers' grievances redressal meeting was held under the chairmanship of District Collector Kranthi Kumar at the collectorate meeting hall in Coimbatore. During the meeting, the District Collector received petitions from farmers and directed the officials to take immediate action on various demands including patta conversion, removal of encroachments, ground water raising, construction of bridges, removal of industrial effluents and sewage.
In this meeting to extend the date of procurement of copra and to correct the encroachment on the waterway, to prevent the mixing of waste and pollution in the Noyyal river and to control the crop damage caused by wild boars and wild elephants, the farmers also requested the district collector to provide free bus passes and pension to the farmers.
