Coimbatore-based Idhayangal Foundation headed by Dr. Krishnan Swaminathan which has been providing various assistance to 1,200 underprivileged children suffering from type 1 diabetes across Tamil Nadu, has been awarded the Tamil Nadu Medical Council of India (MCC) award by the Health Department in recognition of its outstanding medical service.
Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Medical Council award was conferred on the 'Idhayagal Foundation' headed by Dr. Krishnan Swaminathan in Coimbatore.
The Tamil Nadu Medical Council (TNMC) organized a function in Chennai on July 27, 2023 to present the best medical services awards for the year 2023.
Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramaniam presented the award to Dr Krishnan Swaminathan, founder of The Hearts Foundation in Coimbatore, for his outstanding medical service in the state.
It is to be noted that the Hearts Foundation, headed by Dr. Krishnan Swaminathan, has been providing 1,200 poor children suffering from type 1 diabetes in different parts of Tamil Nadu for the last six years, including high-quality insulin, sugar-watching glucometer device, insulin pump, pain-free 4mm injections, educational assistance to children, etc.
Dr Krishnan Swaminathan said, The work of hearts that started in Coimbatore is now working from Chennai to Kanyakumari in collaboration with several government hospitals and the National Health Mission (Tamil Nadu division) to bring about positive changes in the lives of thousands of children.
There is no doubt that the award presented on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu will serve as a crutch for the main objective of the Idhayangal Trust, "not a single child with type 1 diabetes in Tamil Nadu should suffer without quality treatment".
Those below the age of 20 years belonging to poor families affected by type 1 diabetes can contact the Hearts Foundation on 9042858882 and the Hearts website www.idhayangal.org to seek help. This is what Dr Krishnan Swaminathan said.
