Six persons were seriously injured and admitted to the Palladam government hospital after two trucks collided head-on with a van of drummers artistes who were on their way to a BJP event in Rameswaram. The CCTV footage of the accident has been released.
Tirupur: Six people were seriously injured when a truck rammed into the vehicle of musicians who were on their way to a BJP event in Rameswaram.
Dinesh, a native of Coimbatore, along with 12 of his drums troupe, had gone from Coimbatore to Rameswaram last night for a BJP padayatra.
The van in which they were travelling collided head-on with an Eicher vehicle coming from Erode towards Palladam at Madapur near Palladam on the Trichy-Coimbatore national highway at around 11 am yesterday.
Following this, a lorry coming from Sivakasi to Coimbatore collided head-on with an Eicher van and a van carrying drummers.
Drummers Gautham, Saravanan, Sabareesh, Manoj and Manikandan from Coimbatore were rushed to palladam government hospital for treatment with serious injuries in the accident.
Subramanian, a driver of the Eicher vehicle from Anna Nagar in Palladam, sustained serious injuries on his head and back and has been shifted to a private hospital for treatment. The CCTV footage of the accident, which took place late last night, has now been released.
Palladam police, who reached the spot after receiving the information, are investigating the accident.
