City council vice-president takes the responsibility in his own hands; cleans garbage in Valparai

As the sanitation workers of the 11th ward in Valparai did not do their duties in cleaning the ward, the vice-president of the city council Senthil Kumar engaged in the cleanliness drive and the public appreciated him.

Coimbatore: The public congratulated city council vice-president Senthil Kumar, who was involved in the cleanliness drive in the 11th ward of Valparai.

There are 21 wards in Valparai in Coimbatore district. In the 21 wards of Rottikadai, Sholayar Dam, Valparai Town, Valparai Town South and Mudis Bazar, municipal sanitation workers used to visit the area and carry out cleanliness work.

In other wards, estate managements and sanitation workers are visiting the area once a week to carry out the cleanliness work. Senthil Kumar, vice-president of Valparai town council, is a member of the 11th ward.

In areas under ward 11 such as Co-operative Colony, Thulasinga Nagar, Kamarajar Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, etc., sanitation workers used to go door-to-door to collect garbage and carry out cleanliness work in the area.

For the past few days, people have been complaining to the city council vice-president Senthil Kumar that no one has come to collect garbage in the areas falling under the 11th ward and that the sanitation workers are not doing the work despite being asked to pick up the garbage.

The vice-president of the municipal council did not pick up the garbage in the kamarajar nagar area in front of the co-operative colony, post office and nearby pure heart higher secondary school despite repeated instructions to the sanitation workers. School children and people going to the area are suffering due to the foul smell emanating from the area.

As a result, the vice-president of the city council cleaned the garbage in the post office area.

It was seen and appreciated by all the public.

On learning about the incident, the municipal staff rushed to the area and cleaned it up saying that they were working.
