5 injured as two cars collide near Dharapuram - CCTV footage

Five people were injured when the tyre of an Innova car exploded near Konkanapuram section next to Dharapuram, causing the car to lose control and collide head-on with another car. Shocking CCTV footage of the accident has been released.



Tirupur: In a tragic incident, five persons were seriously injured when two cars collided with each other in Dharapuram.

Kirubakaran (24) and Sanjay (24), both from Madurai, are in the fourth year of a private college in Coimbatore. They were travelling with their relative Chandran (60) in a car from Madurai to Coimbatore on a four-lane road via Dharapuram at Konapuram pirivu.

Vijayakumar (35) and Sivakumar (42), both residents of Attukalputhur, who run sukham seed farm in Dharapuram, were waiting in an Innova car coming from Tirupur to Dharapuram.



In this case, the front tyre of the Innova car suddenly exploded, breaking the retaining wall of the road and hitting the car which was moving in the opposite direction.



Five people travelling in both the cars were seriously injured in the accident in which the two cars collided with each other.



The injured were rescued by a 108 ambulance vehicle and brought to dharapuram government hospital.



There they were given intensive care and were then sent to Coimbatore and Tirupur hospitals in a private ambulance for further treatment.



In this case, the CCTV footage of the accident has been released.



The Dharapuram police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
