In May, June and July, 25 trees which were to be felled for the expansion of the Coimbatore Thadagam road highway were removed and replanted at Kovilmedu in Velandipalayam.
Coimbatore: Two peepal trees weighing 15 tonnes and 7 tonnes were replanted at Velandipalayam in Coimbatore today.

In this situation, branches of a well-grown peepal tree were cut off at the TVS Nagar bus stop and a 15-feet tall peepal tree weighing 15 tonnes was cut off.

The seven-tonne peepal tree was also carefully carried for a distance of about three kilometres and replanted around 4 a.m. today.
