CM’s breakfast scheme now launched in 859 schools in Coimbatore district

Breakfast scheme has been extended to all 859 schools in Coimbatore district. A total of 44,358 students will be benefitted. Chief Minister M K Stalin launched the extended breakfast scheme.


Coimbatore: Arrangements have been made to cook at one place in municipal areas and serve food to 15 schools in those areas. Coimbatore District Collector said arrangements have been made to cook food in schools in hilly areas and an officer has been appointed to 15 schools to monitor the situation.

The Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme is being implemented in 136 schools including 121 corporation schools in Coimbatore district, four schools in Madukkarai municipality and 11 schools in Mettupalayam municipality. Chief Minister M K Stalin announced on the occasion of Independence Day that the scheme will be extended to all government schools.

Accordingly, breakfast scheme has been extended to 859 schools in 5 municipalities of Gudalur, Karamadai, Karumathampatti, Pollachi and Valparai in Coimbatore district and 15 blocks.

Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar inaugurated the Panchayat Union Primary School in Kinathukadavu Town Panchayat in Coimbatore district on Friday.

Later, in an interview to reporters, he said that in the first phase of the Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme, 17,621 children in 136 schools are having food.

In the second phase, 44,538 children will be benefitted in 859 more schools. Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated the project at Nagapattinam on Friday.

Based on this, this scheme has been launched in all schools in Coimbatore district. As per the scheme, breakfast for all children has been arranged in schools.

Arrangements have been made to cook at one place in municipal areas and provide food to 15 schools in those areas. Arrangements have been made to cook food in schools in hilly areas. An officer has been appointed for 15 schools to monitor the situation.

An app will collect all the details of when cooking started, the time of serving the meal, and how many people were served the meal. Officials of school education department, women's programme and rural development department have been appointed as officers.
