NCLP and Sri Krishna Educational Institutions join hands to abolish child labour.

National Child Labour Project (NCLP) along with Sri Krishna Educational Institutions jointly organised a program at the Anamalais to create awareness on child labour and instilling the importance of education amongst the parents.



This meeting called as Full Moon - NCLP meet was organised on a full moon day, as it is a traditional custom among the people of villages to gather is a common location during the full moon day and discuss on various issues and celebrate the day with fun and laughter.

Speaking on the occasion, Director (Planning) NCLP T.V. Vijayakumar apprised the people on hosting this event on a full moon day. He also emphasised that people should not forget such customs which creates a bond between each other. He advised the parents on the need for education and refrain from thoughts of transforming their children to workers.

'During those days, education was denied to people from Villages but these days there are many welfare and support schemes that promise education to all irrespective of their socio-regional boundaries. Hence, parents should make use of those schemes and encourage children to go to schools and enlighten themselves', T.V. Vijayakumar said.

Prof.A. Alagarsamy of Sri Krishna Institutions interacted with the parents and stressed them on the importance of school life to children. He also insisted the parents' to clarify their doubts on education with the experts from the educational department who were present at the meet.

A competition for parents and children was also conducted to cheer them. The participating parents were asked to identify the health benefits of fruits and vegetables that were shown to them. Selvanayakam, Anamalais, Sub -Inspector distributed the prizes for the winners.   

Officials from various departments and village heads of Anamalai region were present during the meeting.
