The idols of Vinayagar, who was taken in a procession through the new bus stand and boat house in Valparai, were immersed in the Nadumalai river. On the way, a large number of devotees offered prayers.
Coimbatore: On the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of Vinayaka Chaturthi in Valparai area of Coimbatore district, 108 Vinayaka idols led by AST Sekhar G took out a procession in Valparai town area and immersed in the Nadumalai river.
Valparai is located in 62 estate areas. On behalf of the Hindu Munnani from these 62 estate areas, an idol of Lord Ganesha was placed in each estate on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi festival and pooja was performed to the idol with police protection for five days.
Following this, pujas were performed to all the idols in front of sri subramanya swamy temple in Valparai area in the presence of state secretary C M Annadurai and konar jeweller Vallikannu. The procession was flagged off by waving 108 idols under the leadership of district vice-president AST Sekar.
The idols were immersed in the Nadumalai river in a procession through MGR Nagar, New Bus Stand and Boat House in Valparai area.
More than 300 police personnel and army personnel were on duty during the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
