Around 35,000 people in Coimbatore South constituency will be benefitted under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, said Vanathi Srinivasan, a legislator from the constituency.
Coimbatore: Vanathi Srinivasan has said that a training centre for gold jewellers will be set up in Coimbatore.
The registration ceremony of beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana was held at the marriage hall of Vishwakarma Sangathan at Chettiveedhi in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore South MLA and BJP National Women's Wing President Vanathi Srinivasan was the chief guest and explained the benefits of the Vishwakarma scheme.

She also handed over certificates to those who had registered under the scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, she said that under this scheme, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will conduct camps for the benefit of a large number of Vishwakarma workers in Coimbatore South constituency and the benefits of the scheme will be taken to all.
Speaking to reporters, she said,

In Coimbatore South constituency, I participated in the inaugural function of the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana to provide free registration of people who can do vishwakarma business under the scheme. In the coming days, we will continue to conduct camps and register them free of cost in the areas wherever the Vishwakarma community workers are located across this constituency.
More than 35,000 people will be benefitted in the south constituency alone. There is a training centre for gold jewellers in Udupi on behalf of the Government of India.
Similarly, I have requested that a training centre be set up on behalf of the Central Government in Coimbatore South constituency. I am going to make a request again to set up that training centre and try to bring it to this constituency.
The scheme is aimed at embracing all the people who can be fully small businesses. Because no government has done anything to give importance to this industry. This scheme has been launched with the objective that if traditional industries are encouraged not to get destroyed, the economy of our country will grow and their quality of life will improve. We ignore criticising it as a tribal education for the sake of politics. That's the wrong view.
Anyone who does this business can avail the benefits of this scheme.
It is true that we are going to Delhi tomorrow. But I am going for a meeting of the Central Election Committee. They have invited me for this. I am not aware of the state president going to Delhi."
