In attendance were Sandeesh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Pavaneeshwari, Superintendent of Police for the East Zone, Saravana Sundar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), and Police Commissioner Balakrishnan, along with other high-ranking officials and law enforcement personnel. These high-tech cameras, worth 34 lakhs INR, have been strategically placed at crucial locations across the city, enhancing the surveillance network significantly.

The Commissioner, Balakrishnan, explained that the new cameras, installed in key areas by upgrading existing police stations, can clearly capture vehicle registration numbers day and night. Additionally, these cameras possess the capability to recognize faces, aiding law enforcement in identifying criminals swiftly.

Balakrishnan further elaborated that the cameras play a crucial role in crime prevention and detection. The footage obtained not only assists in tracking stolen vehicles but also aids in identifying culprits involved in criminal activities. The Commissioner emphasized that the Coimbatore City Police have taken significant steps to leverage technology for enhancing public safety and maintaining law and order.

Currently, Coimbatore City Police operate 14,800 out of the 25,000 cameras installed throughout the city, covering various streets and public spaces.
