Major fire accident in a cotton mill in Palladam


Fire broke in a private cotton mill near Palladam, this morning. The thick smoke emanating from the mill is creating severe air pollution around the area. The smoke could be spotted several kilometers ahead, as the black fumes are all over the area. 

The fire accident resulted in a lot of smoke being emitted in and around this area. Eye-witness share with us that following this so called fire accident, a blanket of smoke spread up to 15-kilometers in this area this morning. 



A Sources share with us that in Sulochana Cotton Spinning Mills Pvt Ltd in Palladam Road, Tirupur, plastic waste is converted into plastic threads of various hues. Residents of this vicinity also complain that in the process of manufacturing plastic threads, a lot of harmful smoke is emitted into the atmosphere, thus polluting the air. What added on to the woos of the locals of this region is the fact that a fire reportedly broke in this mill this morning. 

The residents claim that they suspect if the fire accident was man-made, as similar fire incident has occurred last year too. People allege that cotton mills setting fire to their own premise to claim losses and evade tax is not unusual. The source also adds that last year also a similar incident took place in the same mill.  The authorities must not ignore this incident and the real cause of the fire must ascertained and must be brought to light. The source also urged authorities to take action against this mill for contaminating the environment.
